Comprehensive Eye Health Physicals
When was your last eye exam? At North Shore Eye Health and Wellness, we strive to provide comprehensive, primary eye care for the whole family. The Doctors at North Shore Eye Health and Wellness recommend annual, Medical Eye Examinations to not only help you see as clearly as possible, but more importantly, to maintain the health of your eyes to preserve your precious vision for a lifetime.
While some eye diseases let you know something's wrong - with symptoms such as red eyes, light sensitivity, or flashing lights - many serious, vision-threatening problems have no warning signs. Proper eye care and medical evaluation can help prevent your eyesight from being taken from you. Annual eye exams can also detect diabetes, hypertension, retinal holes or tears, and other important treatable medical conditions.
Case History and Consult
During an Eye Health Physical, Dr. Kyle Ross and his staff will ask you questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing, medications your are currently taking, any blurry vision, your work environment, and your overall health. Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during this part of the examination. Dr. Ross will consider this information when determining any treatments or recommendations.
Regular vision testing and evaluations ensure that you always have the clearest vision possible. Dr. Ross will measure how well each eye is seeing by using state-of-the-art instruments. The results of these tests are portrayed as a fraction, with 20/20 being the standard for normal distance and reading vision. Depending on the results of your vision test, Dr. Ross may prescribe corrective glasses, contacts, or discuss the benefits of corrective laser surgery.
Eye Function Testing
In addition to vision testing, our Eye Health Physical includes the evaluation of visual efficiency, or how our eyes function together as a team. We will perform several tests to evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and responsiveness to light. Depending on the results, further evaluation may be deemed necessary in order to promote proper visual efficiency. Healthy Vision is so much more than 20/20, find out more here.
iWellness, Macular Pigment Density, and LipiScan Screenings
As part of our Eye Health Physicals, Dr. Ross likes to gather additional information on the health of our retina and ocular surface. These simple, quick, and painless evaluations are incorporated into the flow of the exam and helps to elevate your evaluation; playing a key role in the prevention and early detection of potentially blinding conditions.
Perhaps the most important part of your evaluation will be the assessment of your eye health. At North Shore Eye Health and Wellness, we pride ourselves on protecting the future of your vision and offering the highest quality, patient centered, medical eye care. For your comfort, we have the most advanced equipment and, oh by the way, we no longer perform the dreaded 'air puff test'. At the completion of your evaluation, Dr. Ross will make sure to take time to summarize the exam findings and provide both a visual treatment plan to keep you seeing clearly, and an ocular health treatment plan to keep your eyes healthy for years to come.
